Abstract

Geophysical methods are traditionally used in civil engineering practice as subsurface investigation techniques. Two most commonly employed geophysical methods are electrical resistivity and seismic refraction methods. Recently however, there have been rapid developments Of widely varying geophysical techniques that are being used successfully in civil engineering projects. This write up takes an overview of the different geophysical methods as utilized in different civil engineering works with cited examples, without details of geophysics principles governing the method. It also highlights potential use for in highway infrastructure in Nigeria.
