Abstract

This paper discusses asynchronous electromechanical energy conversion of coupled polyphase reluctance machines without rotating windings. The scheme comprises two identical salient pole synchronous machines without rotating windings that are mechanically coupled together and electrically interconnected in parallel. The mechanism of torque production of the coupled set is uniquely presented in terms of the interaction between the stator mmf and the rotor permeance distribution.
