COLLECTIVE BARGAINING, HARMONY AND INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA

Abstract

This paper examines critically the concept of collective bargaining in relation to industrial peace, harmony and development in Nigeria, a developing country. It brings to light the two popular strategies involved in collective bargaining, i.e. the win/lose strategy and win/win strategy, and the models underlying them. Based on the critical examination, the paper reveals that for industrial harmony and development to occur, the principle and practice of collective bargaining must be ensured at organizations employing engineering labour and others alike.
