Abstract

When a number of parallel straight lines cut the x-axis, the angle these lines make with the axis is the same. Thus, parallel lines have the same gradients. A series of straight lines passing through the same points have different gradients. The equation of a straight line which cuts a reference y-axis that passes through an unknown eutectic point can be used to determine the composition of a eutectic mixture.
