PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT IN PALM-NUT CRACKING MACHINES

Abstract

The data for energy required to crack palm nuts has been used to design a modified palm nut-cracking machine, with a view to improve the performance of the machines. Tests performed on a prototype of the machine resulted in an extraction efficiency of 78.4%. This compares with the cracking efficiency of 65% recorded by existing palm nut cracking machines.
