Abstract

This work investigated the dynamic mechanical properties (storage modulus, loss modulus, tan delta) and abrasion resistance of recycled low-density polyethylene filled with date seed Powder (DSP). Date seed was ground into powder, and sieved using 250 μm sieve. The date seed powder was filled with wastewater sachet wraps during compounding with 10 g, and 20 g. The control sample WLDPE 100/0 had a storage modulus of 280 Mpa at a glass transition temperature of 36.8 oC. The addition of 10 % ground date seed filler into the matrix, increased the glass transition temperature to 44.5 0C at storage modulus of 270 Mpa. There was no remarkable change in the loss modulus of the control sample and the WLDPE/DS 90/10 compositions at their glass transition temperatures. There was improved damping coefficient of 0.216 at peak onset temperature of 93.1 0C and loss modulus of 30 Mpa at an onset temperature (tg) of 63.3 0C.
